ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Wheeling Jesuit Wrestling program continued to turn heads in their first season in program history today at the Mount Union University Invitational, finishing 6^th with 98 points, just one point behind the more established West Liberty program.
 
"Overall it was a really good day for our boys, they learned a lot out there," said head coach Sean Doyle. "It was good for us for them to compete against some of the best in the region and what that level looks like. We beat Seaton Hill today by 25 today, and they beat us by 1 last time we saw them, so I feel like we are making strides every week."
 
The Cardinals had 13 wrestlers in total place on the day. Damon Outward (133lb), Sawyer Leppla (174lb), Ryan Winslow (184lb), and Corey Siegfried (285lb) were the highest placers for WJU, each finishing in 4^th place in their respective weight class.
 
"I though Damon Outward and Scott Lopez were good again today," added Doyle. "They've been consistent for us all year long and had another strong day at 133."
 
Coach Doyle also highlighted his heavyweight boys in the 285lb class: Corey Siegfried, Logan Bowman, and Casey Hogg who took 4^th, 5^th, and 6^th respectively.
 
"Sawyer (Leppla) was also strong again today in the 174 class," added Doyle.
 
On Saturday, November 23^rd the Cardinals return to their home mat where they will take on the 12^th ranked Mercyhurst Lakers and Ohio Valley University.
