Wheeling Athletics to Host Second Annual Stuff the Truck Event November 14th & 15th

Wheeling, W. Va. - Last year, the Wheeling University Athletic Department put together their first-ever Stuff the Truck event, raising over 500 pounds of food that were donated to Catholic Charities of West Virginia. Thanks to the success of last year's event, the Department has expanded the drive to a two-day event this season, with a goal of collecting at least 700 pounds of food to be donated this season. The 2025 Wheeling Athletics Stuff the Truck event will be held in conjunction with Wheeling Women's Basketball's opening weekend and Wheeling Volleyball's senior day on Friday, November 14th, and Saturday November 15th.

"Giving back to the Wheeling community is one of the core values of our mission at Wheeling University, and this is just one way we are looking to do just that," said Wheeling University Assistant Athletic Director for Communications and Engagement Zack Zeigler. "After collecting over 500 pounds of food at last year's event, we are looking to add to that number this season and give to those in need around our local community to make sure that no one goes hungry this holiday season."

Just like last year's event, there will be a truck parked outside the Alma Grace McDonough Center during all home events during that weekend, where fans can drop off their donations. We will be accepting donations of non-perishable food items, including things like canned vegetables, canned pasta, and other items with a long shelf life. The truck will be parked outside throughout the duration of the two day event, with fans coming to all three games being encouraged to bring donations. Donations from both days will then be collected and donated to Catholic Charities of Wheeling and will be added to their food pantry for those in the local area who are in need.

The Weekend will start off with basketball action as the Wheeling University Women's Basketball team opens their 2025-2026 schedule inside the Alma Grace McDonough Center. They will take on California University of Pennsylvania at 2 PM as they begin the first of a back-to-back weekend. That night, Wheeling Volleyball will be closing out their regular season when they take on West Liberty on senior night at 7 PM. The weekend will come to a close on Saturday afternoon, when the Women's Basketball team is back in action against Edinboro with tip-off at 2 PM. Fans that are attending all three games are encouraged to donate to help those in the region who need food this holiday season.

Catholic Charities of West Virginia is the largest provider of social services in West Virginia. Every year, they provide help to tens of thousands of vulnerable West Virginians, serving 55 counties across the state. Their mission is to collaborate with community partners, parishes, and families to provide caring and compassionate services to people in need and to work toward lasting and meaningful change. The Wheeling location is located at 125 18th street, and provides services to those in need around the community.

The 2025 Stuff the Truck event will be held on Friday, November 14th, and Saturday, November 15th, across all three matches.
