Zack Zeigler enters his fifth year as Wheeling University's Sports Information Director for the 2025-26 season. He is the primary media contact for all 22 of Wheeling's Varsity sports, while also running wucardinals.com and the Athletics Department social media channels.
During the 2024-2025 season, Zeigler covered two more National Champions, the Wheeling Women's Rugby Team as well as The Men's Rugby team. He also covered several historic seasons, with the Wheeling Women's Lacrosse team making the MEC Semifinals in their inaugural season and the Wheeling Softball team making their first MEC Tournament run since 2018. Zeigler also took on a new leadership role in the MEC, being named the Chair of the Sports Information Director board during the annual MEC SID meeting. In total, Zeigler helped cover 56 All-Conference honorees, and eight All-American award winners.
The 2023-24 season was another big year of growth for the Athletic Department, including the first National Championship team since the 2015-16 season. Zeigler covered the Wheeling University Rugby team's journey to the CRC 7's National Championship, as well as another MEC Championship run by the Wheeling University Volleyball team. Zeigler also undertook the re-establishment of the Wheeling University Hall of Fame, welcoming in a class of 11 new inductees for the Class of 2024, the largest class since the Hall of Fame's implementation. Zeigler covered 43 All-Conference honorees throughout the season as well as 13 All-Region honorees and five All-Americans.
The 2022-23 season once again saw Zeigler cover several successful runs for Wheeling teams. He provided coverage for six different MEC Tournament Runs, two regional championship runs, and five National Tournament appearances.The 2022-23 season also saw the start of the Cardinals High Flyer of the Week program, which Zeigler began to recognize the Wheeling Student-athletes for their accomplishments on and off the field. Zeigler also covered 35 different All-MEC honorees, 24 All-Region honorees, and five All-American award winners during the season.
In 2021-22, Zeigler oversaw several big accomplishments in Wheeling history, including several program records, 33 All-MEC Honorees, five All-Americans, and three conference championship runs. He was the host SID and primary media contact for the 2021 NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional Volleyball tournament and also serves as a statisician during the 2022 MEC Men's and Women's Basketball Playoff Tournament.
Zeigler is also a member of the voting committees for the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and the D2SIDA Atlantic Regional Women's Basketball Rankings for the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region.
Prior to Wheeling, Zeigler worked as a Promotions Coordinator at Steel City Media, where he assisted in running the website and social media channels for 96.9 BOB FM and Q92.9 FM.
He previously served as the Sports Information Director at Penn State Greater Allegheny (PSUGA) in McKeesport, PA., where he ran all media relations aspects for its 14 varsity sports. During his time at PSUGA, he managed three different United States Collegiate Athletic Association National Tournament runs, and several Penn State University Athletic Conference playoff runs. In addition, he led a complete re-design of the athletics website and helped elevate the university's social media presence to include a Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube feed. Zeigler was also responsible for beginning the live streaming program at PSUGA. During his time, the university ran its first live stream of soccer, volleyball, men's & women's basketball, baseball, and softball.
Zeigler is a 2017 graduate of Waynesburg University, where he received his bachelor's degree in Communications with an emphasis on Sports Broadcasting/Sports Information and earned a minor in Journalism. A former student-athlete, Zack spent three years on the Waynesburg University Football team and participated in the University's theater department during his Junior and Senior years, playing the roles of Prince Eric (The Little Mermaid), Count Youskovich (Fools), and Uncle Fester (The Addams Family). This Past Spring, Zack went on to earn his Master's of Business Administration (MBA) from Wheeling University.
Zack and his wife Michelle Zeigler live in Masontown, PA., with their dog Duke.
