ALLENDALE, MI—The Wheeling University Cardinals Women's Golf Team completes their first full invitational of the season. The past three invitationals have all been cut short. The Cardinals finished 16th overall, shooting a total of 376 through three rounds of play.
A familiar face finishing first in the outing for the Cardinals as junior, Sawyer Hobbs tied for 23rd through the three rounds. In round three she hit par seven times on the front nine and only hit two over par. On the back nine Hobbs hit for birdie on hole nine and followed that up with two more pars on the following holes. She went three over par on the back nine and totaled for the day going five over.
Junior Tilly Jones placed behind Hobbs and tied for 56th place overall. Jones had three pars on the front nine as she finished it, going seven over. She improved on the back nine, going five over par and hitting four pars. Through the three rounds Jones went 30 over par and totaled 246 shots.
Another junior finding her way to the top four Cardinal golfers was Dorthea Evebo. Evebo finished in 90th place and totaled 294 shots through three rounds. In the third round she went 27 over par and hit five pars.
The freshman golfer, Emma Mrkonja, wraps up the top four Cardinal golfers coming in 92nd place. She totaled 298 shots through three rounds. In the third round she tallied one birdie on hole 14 and hit three pars. She finished round three 26 over par.
The next time the women will be golfing is in the Mountain East Conference Championships that will be held from Sunday, October 11, through Tuesday, October 13.
