Wheeling, W. Va. - After competing in two tournaments during the opening week of the season, the Wheeling University Women's Golf team has announced a change to its upcoming schedule. The team has pulled out of Monday's North Greenville Invitational, which was set to be played in North Carolina. The team has not announced a replacement tournament at this time, but will announce a replacement tournament in the coming weeks.
The Cardinals are coming off a performance at the Findlay Spring Invitational that saw the teams compete across two rounds in one day of competition. It was a rain-shortened event, with the final round of competition being cancelled due to the elements, but the Cardinals would finish with a two-round score of 758. The Cardinals would send four golfers to the competition, and day one would see them combine to shoot one birdie and put up a score of 372 through the first 18 holes of play. Ivana Alvarez led the way, shooting a 90, and it would be the Cardinal's senior leader taking over in round two. Senior Ella Keffer would take five strokes off her round one score, shooting an 86 through the second 18 holes to finish off the day. The Cardinals would finish with a round two score of 386. It rounded out the second spring event of the season for the Cardinals as they continue to grow on the course.
The Wheeling University Women's Golf team will return to action on Sunday, April 12th, when they compete at the Mountain East Conference (MEC) spring classic.
