Wheeling, W. Va. - Last time out, the Wheeling Indoor Track and Field team traveled to Kent State University to compete in the Judd Logan Memorial Invitational. The women were able to bring home a first place finish in the 3000 meter run, with the men finding a third place finish in pole vault. Both teams were able to gain a couple podium finishes among their events.
The Cardinals put together a solid performance at Kent State, competing across seven events and earning strong finishes throughout the meet. Madison Conrad led the way with an impressive first place finish in the 3000 meter run with a run of 11:01.75. She also placed ninth in the mile with a run of 5:24.13. Jade Trowell had a standout day, as well, placing fifth in the women's 800 meters with a time of 2:27.95, and finishing ninth in the women's 400 meters running a 1:03.75. Lucinda Banks also represented Wheeling in multiple events, finishing 12th in the 400 meters with a run time of 1:15.15 and placing eighth in the 3000 meters with a time of 12:14.58.
In the field events, Autumn King cleared 1.48 meters in the high jump placing her in 12th, while Mariah Pelkey finished 14th in the weight throw with a mark of 9.48 meters. Fenne Sienaert, Amber Yoho, and Mariah Pelkey made appearances in shot put, with Sienaert leading the pack with a throw of 9.36 meters to place 11th. Yoho followed closely in 12th at 9.13 meters, and Pelkey rounded out the event with a 14th-place finish at 7.93 meters.
Alexander Rodriguez made a strong statement in pole vault with a clearance of 4.45 meters to place top-three in the event. On the track, Kris Vigars finished eighth in the men's 400 meters, crossing the line in 53.76 seconds. Magnus Polkner continued his strong season in the 800 meters with a time of 1:55.62. He also played a key role in the men's 4x400-meter relay, teaming up with Logan Legg, Taven Mayo, and Hunter Tomich to place eighth overall with a time of 3:40.51.
Erick Berroa and Taven Mayo competed in the 60-meter dash, finishing 27th and 30th, with Berroa running 7.35 seconds and Mayo running 7.50 seconds. Felix Manyani competed in the long jump, recording a mark of 5.64 meters to place 15th. In the distance races, Hunter Tomich and Redick Moore took on the 3000 meters, finishing 12th and 14th, with Tomich running 9:19.61 and Moore running 10:15.08. The Cardinals showed depth across all events as they continued to build toward the remainder of the indoor season.
The Cardinals will be headed back up to Youngstown State for the second time this season to compete in the YSU Collegiate Mid Major on Friday, January 30th and Saturday, January 31st. Events Start at 1 PM on Friday and 9:45 AM on Saturday. Live stats can be accessed
