Kent, Oh. - The Wheeling Men's Indoor Track and Field team traveled to Kent State University to compete in the Judd Logan Memorial Invitational. They were able to find a third place finish in pole vault, along with a couple other podium finishes.
The Cardinals turned in several strong performances at Kent State, with Alexander Rodriguez making a strong statement in the pole vault pit. Rodriguez led the way for the Cardinals, placing third in the pole vault with a clearance of 4.45 meters, giving Wheeling a top-three finish against a competitive field.
On the track, Kris Vigars finished eighth in the men's 400 meters, crossing the line in 53.76 seconds. Magnus Polkner continued his strong season in the middle-distance events, finishing seventh in the 800 meters with a time of 1:55.62. Polkner also played a key role in the men's 4x400-meter relay, teaming up with Logan Legg, Taven Mayo, and Hunter Tomich to place eighth overall with a time of 3:40.51.
Erick Berroa and Taven Mayo represented Wheeling in the 60-meter dash, finishing 27th (7.35 seconds) and 30th (7.50 seconds), respectively. Felix Manyani competed in the long jump, recording a mark of 5.64 meters to place 15th. In the distance races, Hunter Tomich and Redick Moore took on the 3000 meters, finishing 12th (9:19.61) and 14th (10:15.08). Overall, the Cardinals showed depth across events as they continue to build toward the remainder of the indoor season.
The Cardinals will be headed back up to Youngstown State for the second time this season to compete in the YSU Collegiate Mid Major on Friday, January 30th with events starting at 9 AM.
