Akron, OH. - The Wheeling University Men's Outdoor Track & Field team continued their Last Chance Meet schedule on Wednesday when they competed at the Akron Last Chance Meet. The Cardinals would compete in one event on the first day of action, sending their top thrower to the Javelin. It was another NCAA provisional mark for the Cardinals, as they continue to make their case for the 2026 NCAA DII Outdoor Track & Field National Championships.
Competing for the Cardinals was sophomore Felix Manyani, who hit the NCAA DII Provisional mark for the third time this season. He would take the runway for the javelin, and started things strong with a 55.74 meter throw. He would go over the 50-meter mark in each of his four first round throws, with the third of those throws being his longest at 58.95 meters. He would advance to the finals, passing on his firs throw, before fouling on his second throw. He would touch 57 meters on the final throw of the night, but it would be his 58.95 meter mark that got him the second place finish. It was just under two meters shy of his PR in the event, and was just 1.86 meters shy of Slippery Rock's Joseph Reed for the top spot in the event.
The Wheeling University Men's Track & Field team returns to action on Thursday, May 7th, for day two of the Akron Last Chance Invitational.
