Wheeling, W. Va. - Last weekend, the Wheeling Indoor Track and Field team traveled to Muskingum University to compete in the Muskie Meet. After six weeks in between meets, they were able to bring home some podium spots, along with three Cardinals placing first in their events and one breaking a school record.
Magnus Polkner competed in the Men's 1000 meter run at Muskingum and placed first with a run time of 2:34.05. With that run, Polkner now holds the school record for the Men's 1000 meter run. Alexander Rodriguez also found himself in first place in Pole Vault with a jump of 4.25 meters. Kris Vigars was the last male Cardinal to find a spot on the podium after he placed fourth in the 500 meter run with a run time of 1:11.51. The men finished with 25 points at the end of the day.
The women also had three athletes that made podium in their events. Madison Conrad, who is no stranger to the podium, placed in both her events. She ran in the Women's 1000 and 3000 meter run, and placed third in the 1000 meter run with a run time of 3:13.56 and placed ninth in the 3000 meter run with a run time of 11:00.02.
Fenne Sienaert is becoming familiar with the podium as she placed first in long jump with a jump of 4.99 meters, and tied for third in the Women's high jump with a jump of 1.50 meters. Jade Trowell also found herself on the podium after she competed in the Women's 800 meter run and placed eighth with a run time of 2:30.95. The women finished with 25.5 points at the end of the day.
Six Cardinals are top 10 in the conference in their respective events after Saturday's performances. Fenne Sienaert is top 10 in both high jump and the women's pentathlon. She sits at seventh for high jump and second for long jump. Madison Conrad is ninth for the mile and Autumn Kerchner is fifth in high jump. Alexander Rodriguez is number one in the Mountain East Conference for pole vault, while taven Mayo is eighth in pole vault and Erick Berroa is ninth in the 400 meter run.
The Cardinals look to build on their performances Friday, January 23rd to Kent State University for the Judd Logan Memorial Invitational with events starting at 9 AM.
