Wheeling, W. Va. – After playing 18 holes on day one of competition, The Wheeling University Women's Golf Team returned to the Belmont Hills Country Club on Friday for the final round of the event. All four Cardinal golfers lowered their day one scores as the team finished 6th overall with a combined two-day score of 855. After finishing in the top five on day one, senior Ella Keffer rounded out her tournament, taking second overall to lead the Cardinals.
Keffer was the first of four Cardinal golfers to drop her score, setting a new PR by shooting a '79 at the event. After starting off with a bogey on hole 17, the senior would quickly turn things around with a par as she hit the turn. She would add another par on hole two before hitting her first birdie of the day on hole three, knocking a stroke off her score. It was the first of two birdies on the front nine for Keffer, and she would add a par on hole nine as she shot +4. She would finish off her back nine with her strongest performance of the day, hitting par on five of her final seven holes. Three of those would come on her final three girls as she leapfrogged her competition and took second in the tournament. It beat her previous PR by one stroke as she got off to a strong start in 2025.
The two biggest drops of the day came from sophomore Brielle Milhoan and Abbi Siller, who each dropped five strokes from their day one performances. Milhoan was able to crack the top 25, finishing 22nd overall shooting a 91 (+20) on day two of the event. She was able to pick up three pars on the day, shooting two of those three on the back nine as she put up a 46. She finished with her third and final par on the front nine, where she shot a 50 to round out her event. I. Her first collegiate golf tournament, Siller was able to take five strokes off her day one score, shooting a 119 (+52) on day two. She set a new career-high with two bogeys as she continues to grow with each tournament.
Rounding out the tournament for the Cardinals was Mallory Bozovich, who was able to drop two strokes off her day one score. She finished with a 132 (+60) on the round to finish 42nd overall. It was a two position jump from day one as she wrapped up her first career fall tournament.
The Wheeling University Women's Golf team returns to action on Monday, September 8th, when they take on Day 1 of The University of Charleston Golden Eagle Invitational.
