Women’s Golf Drops 24 strokes off Combined Score to Round Out Bull Dog Fall Classic

Grand Rapids, MI. - The Wheeling University Women's Golf team played the final 18 holes of the Bull Dog Fall Classic on Sunday, with their top two golfers playing their final 18 holes. The duo had a big bounce back effort, dropping 24 strokes off their combined score, with both golfers improving their scores from day one to day two. Wheeling would finish with one golfer in the top 50 of the event as they head towards the Mountain East Conference (MEC) Women's Golf Championships next week.

Leading the way for the Cardinals for the second day in a row was senior Ella Keffer, who finished 44th in the field and 16th among her Atlantic Regional competitors. She would begin her day on hole 15 and, after adding three strokes to her score to start the day, she would even things out with a par on hole 18. She carried that momentum into the front nine, where she pared on hole one and got one stroke back with a birdie on hole two. The front nine would be her strongest performance of the day, as she hit five of her eight pars on the front nine and shot +3 through those nine holes. As she rounded out her back nine, she would hit pars on holes 10 and 12, while hitting her first birdie on hole 11. She would finish her day at +4 on the back nine, to bring her two-day score to 79. She dropped four strokes off her day one score as she shot sub 80 for the sixth time in 10 rounds during the fall season.

The biggest rebound from day one to day two came from Brielle Milhoan, who dropped 20 strokes off her day one score to shoot an 83. She started one hole behind Keffer, and added five strokes to her score over the first five holes to sit at +5 as she headed to the front nine. She would get one of those strokes back with the first of two birdies on hole one, and followed with three straight pars to put her score at +4. She would add one more birdie on the front nine, hitting it on hole seven, and she finished the front nine at +6. As she finished out the day, she would hit four pars over her final four holes on the back nine, bringing her back nine score to +5. She rounded out the day with a score of 83, and got momentum on her side as she heads to the MEC Championships.

The Wheeling University Women's Golf team returns to action on Monday, October 6th, when they compete in round one of the MEC Women's Golf Championships.
