Grand Rapids, MI. - Saturday kicked off the final event of the regular season for the Wheeling University Women's Golf team as they took on round one of the Bull Dog Fall Classic, hosted by Ferris State. The Cardinals sent their top two golfers to face off with some of the best players in the region, and the duo combined to shoot a 186 through 18 holes. While the Cardinals did not produce a team score, they did have one golfer place in the top 50 of the event to round out the first round of competition. 

Leading the Cardinals was Ella Keffer, who finished tied for 49th overall with a score of 83, duplicating her performance from the first round of the Pipesteam Classic. The senior began her day on the back nine and, after adding four strokes on her first two holes, se would hit her first par of the day on the 12th hole. She added just two more strokes the rest of the back nine, adding five more pars to her score to shoot a +6 on the back nine. As she hit the turn, she would move her par streak to five straight holes before adding another stroke. She would hit her lone birdie of the day on hole three, but added four more strokes over the next four holes. She ended the front nine at +5, bringing her final score to an 83 for the event. She finished in the top 20 among her Atlantic Regional competitors and looks to lower her score on day two of the event. 

Rounding out the day one showing for the Cardinals was Brielle Milhoan, who finished 83rd in the field with a score of 103. Like Keffer, Milhoan would start her day on the back nine and hit one of two pars of the day on her opening hole. She finished at +12 on the back nine, hitting both her pars on the back nine stretch, and added a +19 on the front nine to round out her day. Milhoan has lowered her score from day one to day two in three of the first four tournaments and will look for a strong bounce back over the final 18 holes. 

Day two of the Bull Dog Fall Classic is scheduled for Sunday, September 28th, with tee times beginning at around 10 AM.
