Pipesteam, W. Va. – After A strong first day of competition, The Wheeling University Women's Golf Team was back out on the course Tuesday for round two of the Pipesteam Classic. Three Cardinal golfers had another strong round of play, led by the first individual champion of the season. Senior Ella Keffer would take the top spot in the field, with a two-day score of 150, beating out the rest of the field by nine strokes.
After setting a new PR on day one shooting an even par (72), Keffer carried that momentum with her heading to day two of action. She started out on hole one for the second day and immediately took a stroke off her score with a birdie. After hitting par on her second hole of the day, she would go back and forth between a bogey and a birdie on each of the next Three holes and came out With her score sitting even. She would remain there with three straight pars heading into the ninth hole where she doubled. It put her at +2 as she hit the back nine looking to get back on track. She would find her consistency once again hitting par on each of the next three holes before adding a stroke to her score on hole 13. Keffer would hit three more pars before the round was out and finished at +4 on the back nine. It was the senior's first ever Collegiate tournament win and helped her set a new two-round PR of 150 for her career.
Having an equally strong day for the Cardinals was sophomore Mallory Bozovich, who was able to equal her day one PR of 107. After shooting +23 on the front nine, her biggest moment of the day would come as she hit the turn. It would come on hole 13 where she hit her first collegiate birdie to take a stroke off her score. She was the only Cardinal to birdie on hole 13, and would finish the back nine strong. After shooting bogey for the first time on day one, Bozovich would hit that mark three times in the final four holes to round out a back nine that saw her shoot +12. Her score of 214 was a new career best for a two round event as she continues to improve each time out. The final Wheeling golfer was sophomore Brielle Milhoan, who would finish 7th overall With a two round total of 177. She would combine to hit seven pars on the day, five coming on the front nine, as she finished her day two with a 90 in the second round.
