Wheeling, W. Va. - It's the Washington Wild Things birthday, and he is calling on some of his friends around the region to celebrate. Wheeling University Athletics will be among the teams in attendance as Iggy represents the department at the fourth annual Washington Wild Things Mascot-A-Palooza. Iggy and several other mascots around the Pittsburgh region will be there to celebrate before the Wild Things take on the Schaumburg Boomers with first pitch at 5:35 PM.
The day will begin with a special meet and greet when gates open at 4:30 PM with Iggy joining the over 20 mascots from around the area. As fans walk into EQT Ballpark, they can stop and take pictures with Iggy and the other mascot in attendance. Last year, Iggy joined a group of mascots that included the Pittsburgh Riverhounds, the Wheeling Nailers, the Pittsburgh Thunderbirds, and many more. Iggy will be at the front gate area from 4:30 PM until the start of the game, giving fans opportunities for pictures leading up to the game's first pitch. When the game gets underway, the fun continues during the game with Iggy joining the Mascots for some more fun.
Throughout the game, Iggy will be walking through the stands hyping up the crowd as the Wild Things look to take down the Schaumburg Boomers. In the second inning, Iggy will head down to the dugout where he will cheer on his fellow mascots in the annual mascot race. As the night goes on, the mascot fun continues with several in-game promotions involving the mascots throughout the night. The Wheeling Athletic Department continues to fulfill the University's mission of Faith, Learning, and Service with and Among Others and it is one way to give back to the local community.
