Keffer/Lincicome Earn Women’s Golf All-Conference Honors

Wheeling, W. Va. – On Tuesday, the Wheeling University Women's Golf team completed the final round of the 2025 Mountain East Conference (MEC) Women's Golf Spring Classic. The Cardinals had two golfers finish in the top 25 of the event and, as a result, had two golfers earn All-Conference honors. Junior Ella Keffer would earn Second Team All-MEC honors after picking up a 10th place finish and Nicole Lincicome added an Honorable Mention All-MEC honor to round out the day.

The Cardinals had three golfers competing across the two days of competition, and were able to place two of those three in the top 25. Day one saw Keffer lead the way, shooting an 84 at the event, and finishing as the only Cardinal golfer in the top 20. Nicole Lincicome and Brielle Milhoan would finish behind her with scores of 90 and 91 respectively, giving the trio a combined score of 265 through the first 18 holes. After feeling the course out through the practice round and the first round, the Cardinals kicked things into high gear on day two with two of the three golfers improving their scores. Keffer got into the event's top 10, setting a new PR of 77, while Nicole Lincicome got into the top 25, dropping her score by a stroke. Overall, Wheeling dropped three strokes off their team score on the final day and wrapped up a strong showing in their final conference event of the spring.

For Ella Keffer, it is her first career All-MEC honor as she finished ninth in the field at the Spring Classic to earn Second Team All-MEC honors. She has been the Cardinal's most consistent golfer this season, putting together an average round score of 86.6 between the fall and spring seasons. It was a bounce-back performance for the junior in their second spring tournament of the season, beating her best round by two strokes on day one alone. Keffer came back and would take things even farther, setting a new PR by three strokes putting together a score of 77. It was good for the fourth best overall performance on day two as she rounded out her best collegiate showing. Keffer is the first Cardinal to gain Second Team or higher All-MEC honors since the 2023 spring season when former Cardinal golfer Emily Holzopfel earned First Team All-MEC honors.

Lincicome rounds out a very decorated collegiate career that sees her take home her third career All-MEC honor. It was the third time in that career that Lincicome has earned Honorable Mention honors, and her first Honorable Mention award since the 2023 season. Lincicome was consistent through the two rounds of play, sitting at 90 after day one and finding herself just outside the top 25. However, she came back on day two and did what she needed to do to get into that top 25 spot, dropping one stroke off her score to finish 24th in the field with a score of 89. That, combined with her 19th overall finish at the 2024 MEC Women's Golf Championship was enough to earn the senior her third career All-MEC honor.

With the two All-Conference honors picked up on the golf course, the Wheeling Athletics Department has now had 43 players earn All Conference honors this season. After a drought last season, the Wheeling Women's Golf team has two All-Conference award winners for the first time since the 2023 season. The last team to earn All-MEC honors was the Wheeling Men's Basketball team, who had Sean Ealy take home First Team All-MEC honors back on March 4th, 2025.

The Wheeling University Women's Golf team returns to action in match play on Tuesday, April 22nd when they take on Fransiscan at the Steubenville Country Club.
