Women’s Golf Earns Two All-MEC Honors at MEC Women’s Golf Spring Classic

Charleston, W. Va. – The 2025 Mountain East Conference (MEC) Women's Golf Spring Classic wrapped up on Tuesday with the players taking on the final 18 holes. It was a big day for the Wheeling University Women's Golf team with two top 25 finishers in the event. As a result, the Cardinals would bring home two All-MEC honors as they continue their spring season.

The first came from Junior Ella Keffer, who earned Second Team All-MEC shooting a two round score of 161 to finish 9th in the field. It was a big day for the junior, who set a new PR by three strokes putting together a 77 over the final 18 holes. As she did on day one,  Keffer would start her day on hole 16 and hit par on two of her first three holes. As she made the turn towards the front nine, the success continued as she added three more pars to her day. In total, she would hit par on seven of the nine holes on the front nine finishing with a plus two. She would then start the back nine with her best showing of the day, hitting her lone Eagle of the round. It would tell her through the rest of the back nine where she finished +2. It is the first time in her career that Keffer has won All-MEC honors as she continues to grow her experience on the course.

The other All-MEC honoree was senior Nicole Lincicome, who earned Honorable Mention All-MEC honors. It was the third time in her Four seasons with the Cardinals that she has earned Honorable Mention after shooting a two-day score of 179. She was able to jump two spots in the player standings and took one stroke off her day one score shooting an 89. Her best performance would come on the back nine, where she shot a +7, including four pars across the nine holes of competition . On the front nine, she would add two more pars to finish 24th in the field. Lincicome was able to round out her conference career on a high note as she earned the third Honorable Mention All-MEC honor of her career as the leader of the Cardinals.

The final golfer for Wheeling was Brielle Milhoan, who finished the final round with a 96. It brought her two day score to 187 and helped her sneak into the top 30, taking 27th in the field. Milhoan would hit par on two of the 18 holes in the day and upped her standing by one spot to finish 27th in the field.

The Wheeling University Women's Golf team returns to action on Tuesday, April 22nd, when they compete in match play against Franciscan University.
