Keffer Wraps up Career-Best Championship Tournament with Spot on MEC All-Tournament Team

Beckley, W. Va. - Following the 54 holes of the 2025 Mountain East Conference (MEC) Women's Golf Championships, the conference honored some of the top golfers at the event with their All-Tournament team. The conference honored the top golfers and teams at the event in their awards ceremony with the announcement of the conference championships and the awarding of the all-tournament team to the top five golfers. Among those award winners was Wheeling Women's Golfer Ella Keffer, who finished tied for 5th in the field with a three-day score of 243.

In what was her final MEC Conference Championship event, Keffer put together the best championship performance of her career, finishing with her highest individual finish at the event over her four-year career. It was the first top 10 finish at the event of her career and she took 16 strokes off her score from last year's event. She kicked off the event with an 84 in round one and started out in the event's top 10, sitting 10th overall. As the event went on, Keffer just kept getting better and climbed the individual ladder. In round two, she tied her MEC Championship PR, shooting an 80 that helped her jump four spots in the individual standings into a tie for 6th heading into the final day of competition. As she entered day three, she saved her best round for last as she lowered her score by one stroke and set a new MEC Championship PR.

She needed to advance at least one spot in the individual standings to get into the All-Tournament team conversation and started things strong with a par on hole 10. Her lone hurdle was a double on hole 11, but she got one of those strokes back by birdieing on hole 12 and found her consistency by hitting three straight pars. She would end up paring on five of the final six holes, and finished out the back nine at +2 as she hit the turn. After doubling on the first hole of the front nine, Keffer would hit back-to-back pars before hitting birdie on hole four to get her score +3 for the round. She finished with two pars in the final five holes to shoot +5 for the front nine and finish the round with a Championship PR of 79 to jump into the top five.

The battle for the MEC's Individual Championship came down to a three-hole playoff, and was awarded to The University of Charleston's Mari Fillippa Larsen, who finished with a three-round score of 232 before winning the playoff in three holes. The rest of the 2025 MEC Women's Golf Championship All-Tournament team looks like this:

Mari Filippa Larsen - Charleston
Lucia Martin - Charleston
Gabrielle Harrison -  Charleston
Moa Lindgren - Glenville State
Elaina Seely - Glenville State

The Wheeling University Women's Golf team now heads into their offseason break as they prepare for the 2026 Spring Season, beginning in March.
