Granville, OH. – The spring season came to an end for the Wheeling University Women's Golf team as they headed to the Denison Shootout on Sunday. Of the three Cardinal competitors on the day, two of those three finished in the top 20 to round out the day. While there was no team score, the Cardinal trio combined to shoot a spring-best 251 to lead the way.
Leading the way for the Cardinals was
Nicole Lincicome, who shot an 81 through the 18 holes of competition. She shot into the top 10 of the event, finishing in a tie for eighth in the field, her first top 10 finish of the spring season. Lincicome has been a leader for the Cardinals all spring, and put together one of her best rounds of the spring to finish out her junior season. The other top 20 finish for the Cardinals came from sophomore
Ella Keffer, who shot a spring best 82 on the day. Keffer had shot 85 or higher in each of the first three events of the spring and had her best showing of the spring to finish 13th in the field. Keffer has continued to grow throughout the spring season and looks to use that growth to get advantage as she heads into the off-season and prepares for 2024-2025.
The final golfer for the Cardinals was
Marra Johnson, who finished in the top 20 was sophomore
Marra Johnson. Johnson would finish in a tie for 18th in the field, shooting an 88 to round out her 18 holes of play. The effort was consistent with her season average for the spring as she ends the spring on a consistent note.
The Wheeling University Women's Golf team now heads into the offseason looking to grow for 2024-2025.
