Columbus, OH. – The Wheeling University Women's Golf team competed on day one of the Capital Fall Classic for Morgan's Message on Sunday. Due to scheduling and darkness creeping in, the women were not able to complete the first 18 holes of competition. They are currently through 17 holes and will complete the final hole of round one as well as round two on Monday at 8:30 AM.
The Cardinals entered play today having finished in the top 10 in all three of their tournaments, and placed top five in two of those three tournaments. At the Davis & Elkins invitational, the women came home with their highest tournament finish of the season, placing 3rd in the field with a two-round score of 668. The score was the team's second lowest mark of the fall season, and their lowest since they shot a combined 660 at the Vulcan Invitational to start the year. The Cardinals were led in that event by sophomore
Marra Johnson, who shot two identical 80 stroke scores in the first and second rounds for a two-day score of 160. It was tied for Johnson's two-round PR as she continues to be one of the leaders for this year's team.
Round one of the Capital Fall Classic for Morgan's Message will resume on Monday, September 25th with tee times set for around 8:30 AM.
