Fritts named Honorable Mention MEC Pitcher of the Week
Justin Fritts threw nine strikeouts in picking up a 9-1 win for the Cardinals against Fairmont State in a 2-2 series split over the weekend. This performance has landed Fritts in the MEC's "Top Pitching Performances of the Week".

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. -- Shepherd's Ryan Pansch is the Mountain East Conference Pitcher of the Week, and teammate Ryan Messina is the league's Player of the Week, the conference announced today.
Pansch, a sophomore from Charles Town, W.Va., picked two wins in two starts on the mound last week for the Rams. In a mid-week game against West Virginia Wesleyan, Pansch struck out eight of the 14 batters he faced and gave up two hits in four innings to pick up the win. He followed that performance up with a complete game shutout of West Liberty on Saturday giving up just three hits and striking out nine. He did not allow a run in his 11 innings of work.
Messina, senior from St. James, N.Y., recorded a hit in each of SU's six games last week as the Rams went 5-1. He hit .529 with five doubles and a home run, while driving in nine runs and scoring six times.

Jackson Everman (Urbana) picked up his first collegiate win throwing a complete game, two-hit shutout against Wheeling Jesuit ... Justin Fritts (Wheeling Jesuit) struck out nine and walked two in a win vs. Fairmont State ... Ryan Weatherholtz (Concord) tossed a three-hit shutout and matched his season high with eight strikeouts in a 2-0 win over West Virginia State ... Matt Kastelic (Notre Dame) turned in his third complete game shutout of the season against West Virginia State ... Corey Lilly (Fairmont State) surrendered just three hits in all seven innings of action while blanking Wheeling Jesuit.
