Jim LaPenna Earns ECC Goalie of the Week
Wheeling, W.Va.---Wheeling Jesuit men's lacrosse goalie, Jim LaPenna, earned the East Coast Conference's fourth Goalie of the Week Award as announced by the league's office.
LaPenna played between the pipes during the Cardinals to a 3-0 week on spring break in Leonardtown, Md. at St. Mary's Ryken High School. The junior from Bel Air, Md. was spectacular during the Cardinals undefeated week. LaPenna pitched a second-half shutout against Belmont Abbey, allowing Jesuit to pull-off a come-from-behind, 7-6, victory. He collected six saves in the contest.
Against Assumption College, LaPenna stopped 15 Greyhound attacks in a 14-3 victory, and he continued to record double-digit saves against Queens University, finishing with 12 saves as the Cardinals completed the Maryland sweep with a 12-9 win.
For the week, LaPenna collected three wins, allowing 18 goals and collecting 33 saves, and on the year, he has allowed 27 goals, compiling a .609 save percentage with 42 stops.
