JOHNSTOWN, PA. - The Wheeling University Men's Golf team has finished tied for seventh place. They shot a total of 229, which is 19 over par. Today three Cardinals hit an eagle on hole 11. Those three golfers are junior Zak Collins, freshman Cormac Pearson, and senior Brandon Lee.
The Cardinal who finished best in the tournament was sophomore Lodin Femoen, who tied for 19th place and went four over par. In round three, Femoen had seven pars on the front nine, finishing it three over par. He then started the back nine with a par and a birdie and then hit five more pars after that. He finished the back nine two over par and completed round three five over.
Next is Zak Collins, who, as mentioned before, hit an eagle on hole 11 and finished tied for 28th place. He picked up a birdie on hole four in round three, one bogey on hole eight, and then hit for par the other seven holes. On the back nine he also finished, even hitting two bogeys and that one eagle, then hit par every other hole.
Coming in third on the team was Cormac Pearson, who tied for 44th place and went 8 over par, totaling 218 shots. Pearson hit a birdie on the last hole of the front nine in round three and completed it going two over par. He too hit an eagle on hole 11 and was also able to hit a birdie on hole 18 to go one under par on the back nine. On the day he went one over par.
Rounding out the top four for the Cardinals is graduate student Sean Dobbs, who tied for 51st place. He shot nine over par and shot one over par in round three. In round three he picked up two birdies on holes two and 11.
The Cardinals will have the Mountain East Conference Championships next up. This will take place October 4 through 6.
