ELKINS, W.Va. - The Wheeling University Men's Golf team is headed to Elkins, West Virginia, for the Mountain East Conference Men's Golf Championships. Last year the team placed fourth out of ten teams, putting up 906 points through 54 holes. 

Last year they had three returners finish in the top four in the championships. Coming in first place on the Cardinals team and tied for fourth overall was now junior Zak Collins, who shot 218. In the first round on the front nine, he was on fire, picking up two birdies on holes two and five. He also picked up an eagle on hole eight. And finished round one below par. He proceeded to hit four birdies on the back nine of round two, finishing round three over par. In the final round he was able to break even and picked up six total birdies. 

Coming in second place on the team was graduate student Sean Dobson, who placed 14th overall and shot a total of 227. Dobson finished the first round, hitting four birdies and finishing one under par. In the second round he picked up one birdie but finished three over par. In the third round he shot nine over par and in total shot 11 over par. 

Finally, we have sophomore Elias Ekenes-Fosback, who tied for 20th place and shot 235 through three rounds. In the first round he got two birdies but finished seven over par. In the second round he picked up one birdie and finished nine over par, but in the third round he hit five birdies and went three over par. He ended up totaling 19 over par through the three rounds. 

A golfer who has been spectacular this season that is not a returning golfer who participated in the championships last year is freshman Cormac Pearson. In the two invitationals played this year, he finished first and second on the Cardinals and tied for eighth place overall in one. 

The Championships will be held on three separate days, with one round being played each day. It will be October 4 through October 6.
