Wheeling, W. Va. – After having their first champion crowned on day one of the 2026 Mountain East Conference Championships, the Wheeling University Men's Outdoor Track & Field team returned to action on day two Monday at the Mylan Sports Complex. Wheeling would only have one competitor take the field, with sophomore Magnus Polkner competing in the 800-Meter Dash.
It would be the second to last running event of the night for the guys, and Polkner would run in the second of the two heats. The 800 has been his top event throughout the season, and he would end up getting off to a hot start out of the gate. His first lap was strong as he came out the gates running a 55.51 and sitting near the top of the pack. However, the sophomore would finish the second lap in 1:01.05 as he came down the home stretch. His time would come in at 1:56.56 for the event, putting him 12th overall and fifth in his heat to round out the day.
The Wheeling University Men's Track & Field team returns to action for day three of the 2026 MEC Track & Field Championships, with first events scheduled for 11 AM.
