Moses Koroma to Represent Track & Field at Nationals

Wheeling, W. Va. – On Tuesday evening, the NCAA released the list of qualifiers foe the 2024 NCAA DII Indoor Track & Field Championships. For each of the last two seasons, the Wheeling University Indoor Track & Field team has had at least one representative, and they continued that tradition in 2024. Junior Moses Koroma will represent the team for the second straight season, qualifying to compete in the Men's 60-Meter Hurdles in Pittsburg, Kansas.

It will be Koroma's second trip to the National Championship event, after he qualified in the same event one season ago. He kicked off his season at the YSU IceBreaker, where he ran an 8.16 and placed sixth in the field. In each of his first three meet he would lower his times until he hit the YSU Mid Major. It was there that he would set his PR, running a time of 7.89 seconds as he took first place in the field. He would finish out the season with one more strong run, finishing with a time of 7.90 seconds. He headed into the 2024 MEC Championship as the top seed in the field and he would be defending his title from a season ago.

Koroma would not only win his heat in the preliminaries but, as he has done all season, he came back even faster in the finals, running a time of 8.04 seconds to win the championships.
Koroma would end up setting the MEC Tournament meet record and earned first team All-MEC honors. He added to his list of accomplishments as he was named the MEC Indoor Track Athlete of the Year for the first time in his career. As he heads into the National Championship event, Koroma is seeded at #11 heading into the tournament and looks to get into the top eight to qualify for the finals on day two. Last season, Koroma would compete in the same event and ended up finishing in that same #11 spot, earning himself Second Team All-American honors. This year, he looks to take that success even farther and try to get on the podium as he wraps up his strong indoor season.

The 2024 NCAA DII Indoor Track & Field National Championships will be played March 8th – 9th in Pittsburg, Kansas, with Pittsburg State serving as the host school.
