Wheeling W. Va- Coming into the season, Wheeling Men's Rugby (1-1), (1-0) had big expectations placed upon them not only by themselves but by the nation. After a massive 62-25 Big Rivers Rugby Conference (BRRC) victory over Rio Grande, the team moved up one spot to third in the National Collegiate Rugby (NCR) Top 20 Coaches Poll. With the added pressure, the Cardinals will make the trip to Thomas Moore University in Kentucky, determined to prove how deserving they are of the new ranking.
The Cardinal's match against the Red Storm marked a time of celebration for the seniors. They wanted to leave everything they had on the field in front of the Wheeling faithful, and they did. Joe Iye struck only seven minutes into the match, but he found the try zone twice by the end of the day. However, Iye was not the only Cardinal with a multi-try day. Alex Nyamunda recorded three tries along with Iye. Ayoub Jalli and Aaron Juma both recorded a try each. The four players totaled 40 of the 62 points Wheeling scored. The remaining points came off the foot of Shadreck Mandaza. He went 8-8 on conversion kicks and added a penalty kick, too. He has been perfect up to this point, going 12-12 on the season so far.Â

The Saints Come Marching InÂ
Thomas Moore comes ready to defend their territory after demolishing Trine University 88-0 on Sunday. Their outing on September 13th versus the Tennessee Volunteers was much more contested. The Saints squeezed out a 27-20 win in their home opener. The two home wins helped ease the sting of their 62-10 season-opening loss to Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio. With the two impressive wins, Thomas Moore made the leap into the NCR Top 20 Coaches Poll to 17th. They were previously ranked 37th, jumping 20 other schools.
