Wheeling Women’s Soccer Alumni Bri Murgi Inks Assistant Coach Job at Robert Morris

Wheeling, W. Va. - Last week, the Robert Morris University Women's Soccer team rounded out their coaching staff with the naming of their new Women's Soccer Assistant Coach. Former Wheeling University Women's Soccer Player Bri Murgi was announced as the Colonials newest assistant, landing her second assistant coaching job of her career. Murgi played for the Cardinals from 2016-2019 and landed her second collegiate assistant coaching job of her career.

After leaving Wheeling, Murgi signed on as an Assistant with the Westminster women's soccer program, where she oversaw a strong Titans squad. During her two seasons with the Blue and White, Murgi helped lead Westminster to a 22-5-2 record and a 2021 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship. Her 2021 squad also earned a bid to the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Tournament. This will be her first Division I Assistant Coaching role as she moves from NCAA Division III up to NCAA Division I.

During her Wheeling career, Murgi played a big role in the midfield for the Cardinals keeping the ball out of the Cardinals defensive zone. In four seasons, Murgi scored one goal and two assists while starting all but three games during her collegiate career. Her best season offensively came during her sophomore campaign, where she scored the only goal of her career while also netting an assist. Her lone collegiate goal was a big one as she netted a double overtime penalty kick against Fairmont State on September 27th, 2017, to give wheeling a 1-0 win.

Murgi is one of several Cardinals coaching throughout the high school and college ranks including Sean Regan (West Liberty), Jim Findlay (Susquehanna), Jon Arlett (Mercyhurst), Lauren Lewicki (Walsh University), and others. We wish Murgi luck as she continues her coaching career with Robert Morris.
