GLENVILLE, W.Va. (May 4) – The Wheeling University men's track & field team rallied for a runner-up finish at the Mountain East Conference (MEC) Outdoor Championship Tuesday afternoon.
The Cardinals entered the final day in fifth place, but managed to score 107 total points to move into second overall. Charleston won the team title with 194 points, while Glenville State (95 points), West Virginia Wesleyan (93.5 points) and Frostburg State (91 points) rounded out the top-five.
Freshman
Moses Koroma (Woodbridge, Va./Gar-Field) established a personal-record and a NCAA Provisional time in the 400-meter hurdles. Koroma placed second overall with a time of 53.29 seconds – shaving over a second off of his previous best time.
Freshman
Julian Griffin (Lebanon, Ohio/Lebanon) posted a second-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.94 seconds. Koroma added points to the team total with a fourth-place time of 15.18 seconds.
Sophomore
Cameron Ferguson (Greer, S.C./Greer) led the squad in the 100-meter dash. Ferguson place fourth overall at 10.93 seconds.
Senior
Brian Vandusen (Monongahela, Pa./Ringgold) took fourth place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.04 seconds, while freshman
Jabez Reeves (Woodbridge, Va./Gar-Field) came in fifth overall at 22.21 seconds.
The Cardinals produced a new meet record in the 4x100-meter relay. The team of Griffin, Reeves, Vandusen and Ferguson won the event with a time of 41.44 seconds.
The team closed out the event with a fourth-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay. Koroma, junior
