Jesuit Women's Soccer Fights Back to Tie Concord 1-1

Box Score Wheeling, West Virginia – 9/27/14  The Wheeling Jesuit University Women's Soccer team faced off against conference opponent Concord University on a sunny Saturday afternoon at Bishop Schmitt Field.   The first half was back and forth with several chances for both sides, but was dominated by outside shots from Concord.

The second half saw more action as Concord got on the board first with a goal by Chloe Barber in the 59th minute.  The attack started down the left flank and the ball was driven across the 6 yard box where Barber was at the back post to put it away.

After the goal, the Cards fought back, sustaining more pressure as much of the second half was played in the attacking half of the field.  It was during a long stint of attacking pressure that junior defenseman Kristen Eaton found freshman forward Nikki Hillard at the top of the 18-yard box and Hillard volleyed the ball in the top corner with less than 2 minutes to go on the clock.

Overtime came with chances both ways as the play opened up from end to end.  The game ended in a 1-1 tie.  Cardinals Head Coach Carrie Hanna said, "the effort to fight back and tie the game that way is what we preach on a daily basis.  We just needed to capitalize on one more chance to win it."
The Cardinals next play on Wednesday  10/1/14 at 7:00pm on Bishop Schmitt Field versus conference foe West Virginia Wesleyan.
