Women’s Golf Begins 2014-15 season strong

The 2014-15 Women's Golf program at Wheeling Jesuit University began its play on September 7th – 8th at the MEC Fall Invitational hosted by Urbana College at the Indian Springs Golf Club course in Mechanicsburg, Oh.  The Cardinals came away with the win over Notre Dame of Ohio by 13 shots.   Junior Kasey Frazier, was the medalist in a field of 41 golfers.  Freshmen Bridget Lynn was tied for 5th, Freshman Leah Baughman was tied for 19th, and Freshman Marci Schneider was tied for 28th.
 
The Michael Corbett Fall Classic was hosted by Gannon University at the Lake Shore Country Club in Erie, PA on September 14th-15th.  WJU took the 8th spot of 18 teams as Trevecca Nazarene University from Nashville, Tn. took first-place honors.  Frazier won an exciting three hole play-off against West Virginia Wesleyan's Kayla Linger by having a birdie on the difficult par 5 hole to take home the medalist prize of 104 golfers.  Lynn was 14th in the field with Schneider tied for 58th and Baughman tied for 80th.
 
The Cardinals next stop will be at The Meadows Golf Course on the campus of Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Mi. for the NCAA DII Preview on September 27th-28th.
