WJU Lacrosse Rolls Over Alderson Broaddus

WHEELING, W.Va. – The Wheeling Jesuit men's lacrosse team scored 10 goals in the third quarter alone en-route to a 21-4 dismantling of the visiting Alderson Broaddus Battlers on a Tuesday night ECAC conference tussle.
 
The win improves the Cardinals season record to 8-1 on the season, and a perfect 3-0 at home on the school's new Bishop Schmitt Field, and cement their place as the ECAC's second ranked team.
 
WJU's Tyler Wickett, Tyler Johnson, and Rob Mills each put in a hat-trick of goals to lead the Cardinals in the score column. Scoring two goals each for WJU was Brian Frank, Bryce Brochu, Jared Baranowski, and Jared Sims.
 
All told 11 different Cardinals found the back of the net, allowing Coach Kevin Dugan to spread the playing minutes across the squad.
 
Three different goalies served time in the net for WJU. Senior Joe Amsler played the first half picking up three saves, but allowing three goals get by. Freshmen Kellen McMahon and Tim Langhorne split the rest of the game picking up five more saves.
 
Defensively, Junior Corey Luebbe was a terror, causing five turnovers and scooping up nine ground balls.
 
The Cardinals travel to Seton Hill on Saturday for an important ECAC matchup. Faceoff is scheduled for noon.
