SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – The Wheeling Jesuit Women's basketball team dropped their second game on the road this week against a hot-shooting Notre Dame College on Saturday, 81-70.
The Cardinals now fall to 1-5 on the season (0-4 MEC), while the Falcons improve to 5-1 (3-1 MEC).
At the half, the Falcons led WJU 40-36, with 30 of NDC's points coming from behind the 3-point arc, going 10/15. Such was the story of the game for the Cardinals, who just couldn't keep up with the Falcons shooting. NDC was led by an excellent performance from Martha Nagbe who went 10-15 from the floor, and 7-9 from behind the arc for 30 points.
The Cardinals were led by a trio of starters who each scored in double figures.
Taneka Lewis had yet another big night for WJU, leading the team with 19 points.
Jaila Bryant had a strong evening going 6/14 from the floor for 17 points and taking two steals.
Kylie Frizell was solid for the Cards as well netting 11 points while going 3/5 from three-point land, and 4/7 from the floor.
WJU will attempt to get back into the win column on Saturday, December 14
th when they face Clarion at home before heading to Syracuse, N.Y. to take on fellow Jesuit school LeMoyne. Tip-off for the Clarion game is scheduled for 6pm at the McDonough Center.
