Pew and Kindall Lead 2013 ECAC Division II Volleyball All-Stars

CENTERVILLE, Mass. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced its 2013 Division II Volleyball All-Star teams today, and a pair of Wheeling Jesuit University teammates captured top honors. Senior middle hitter and setter Jenna Pew (Marshallville, Ohio) was selected as the Player of the Year, while Cardinal freshman middle blocker Haley Kindall (Westerville, Ohio) was chosen as the Rookie of the Year. The balloting was completed by the head coaches within the ECAC Division II Volleyball membership.

Pew led the Mountain East Conference (MEC) in hitting percentage this season (.358) and was fourth in kills per set (2.94). She racked up 41 service aces in 2013 and added 419 assists, an average of 3.46 per set. Pew also recorded 178 digs and 98 total blocks and led the Cardinals to an appearance in the NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Final Four, the farthest any Wheeling Jesuit Volleyball team has advanced. She was named the MEC Player of the Year and became just the second player in Wheeling Jesuit history to be named to the American Volleyball Coaches' Association (AVCA) All-America Team, as she was a Third Team selection.

In her first season for the Cardinals, Kindall was a major factor in Wheeling Jesuit posting its best season in school history. She helped lead the Cardinals to an undefeated record in the MEC and a 31-5  regular season record, posting a team high 113 total blocks and a .329 hitting percentage, fourth best in the MEC. Kindall also racked up 294 kills on the season and was chosen as an AVCA All-Atlantic Region First Team selection.
