Wheeling Jesuit Volleyball Continues Dominant MEC Play - Drops Urbana in Three Straight Sets

Box Score Urbana, Oh. – The Wheeling Jesuit University Volleyball team, led by Head Coach Christy Benner, continued its dominant Mountain East Conference play by sweeping the Urbana Blue Knights in three straight sets – 25-9, 25-13, and 23-16.  The win pushes the Cardinals record to 13-0, including 12 in straight sets, in the Mountain East Conference and 26-5 overall.
 
WJU got out of the gate early putting down 14 kills with 3 errors on 26 total attempts for an impressive .423 attack percentage.  14 different Lady Cardinals played during the contest, as Wheeling Jesuit came in waves at the Blue Knights all evening long.
 
The trio of Rachel Caja (Junior, Lakewood, Oh.), Kayce Krucki (Freshman, Findlay, Oh.), and Emma Schleucher (Freshman, Findlay, Oh.) led the Cardinals on attack.  Caja put down 8 kills with no errors on 12 total attempts for a .667 attack average.  Krucki tallied 9 kills with 1 error on 16 total attempts and also registered 9 digs on the evening.  Schleucher finished with 6 kills and 2 errors on 13 total attempts.  Makenzie Ripley (Junior, Dennison, Oh.) led the squad with 11 digs on the defensive side of the court.  As a team, the Cardinals finished with a .378 attack percentage.
 
Wheeling Jesuit (26-5, 13-0 MEC) will return to action today with a 3:30 pm match against University of Findlay and a 6:00 pm match against Malone University in a tri-match on the campus of Malone University in Canton, Ohio.  This coming week WJU will be at Notre Dame College on November 12th at 7:00 pm and then returns home for the first time in two weeks when they host Shepherd University November 15th in the McDonough Center at 7:00 pm.
