Jesuit Volleyball Train Keeps On Rolling

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 WHEELING, W.Va. – The #24 ranked Wheeling Jesuit Cardinal Volleyball team extended their wining streak to 22 straight matches on Saturday with a pair of victories over Mountain East Conference foes Urbana University and Glenville State College.
 
The Cardinals took care of business in straight sets against both the Blue Knights and the Pioneers, facing little difficulty along the way. In the opening set against Urbana the Cardinals only allowed six points, going on to win the match 25-6, 25-17, and 25-11. Against Glenville, the Cardinals were equally as efficient, taking the match 25-14, 25-13, and 25-15.
 
With the wins, the Cardinals now move to 23-3 on the season and remain a perfect 10-0 in conference play.
 
It was Senior Night at WJU's McDonough Center, and true to form, Senior Jenna Pew would again be a leader for the Cardinals in both matches. Against Urbana, Pew had a solid overall game tallying 8 kills, 9 assists, and 6 digs.  In the following match against Glenville, Pew put up similar numbers with 9 kills and 6 assists.
 
Also receiving a senior sendoff was Gabby Guanciale, the defensive specialist from Westerville, Ohio who has been a standout this year as well with 23 digs on the season.
 
A young gun led the Cardinals on senior night however. Freshman Kayce Krucki (Findlay, OH) led the team with 10 kills in both games.
 
The Cardinals now takes to the road for a lengthy stretch of matches on the road in the lead-up to the Mountain East playoffs. WJU will face Concord on the 29th, the first of eight road matches.
