he Wheeling Men's Soccer Team (1-1)(0-0) gets conference play underway this Sunday as they make the short trip across to Pittsburgh to meet the Point Park Pioneers. Jack Shearer got on the board early for his collegiate coaching career last time out against Walsh, as he guided his men to an impressive 3-1 victory against Walsh last Sunday at Bishop Schmitt Field.

Leading the scoring for the Cardinals last time out was Canadian Jon-Michael Gordon, as he notched his first career multi-goal game with a brace. He was unlucky not to add any more however, as he had 5 shots with 4 on target. Joining Gordon on the scoresheet was sophomore KJ Viglundsson, as he got his first Cardinal goal in his home debut.

Another top Wheeling performance came from the man between the posts, Diego Marquez. The game had a high tempo from the off and throughout, with a total of 36 shots and 19 on target between the two sides. This was Marquez's first start of the season, after being left out against Cal-U just three days prior. Marquez made seven saves on the night, seemingly picking up right where he left off last season.

Wheeling have played Sunday's opponents Point Park a total of eight times, winning four, losing two, and tying the rest. Although the Cardinal record is positive, they are currently on a two game losing streak to the Pioneers and fell in this fixture last season to a late second half goal. That was however Wheeling's only away loss to Point Park in 4 meetings, and with an attack in fine form, Wheeling will look to keep the momentum rolling in Pittsburgh Sunday.
