The Wheeling University Men's Soccer Team (5-8-1)(3-7-1) are set to play their last regular season home game for 2026, as they welcome Point Park to Bishop Schmitt Field. The Cardinals need nothing but a win in their last two games of the season to have a chance of making the playoffs, following their tightly contested 2-2 draw with Frostburg State on Wednesday.

Jon-Michael Gordon got Wheeling on the board early on Wednesday, as he converted a spot kick with just seven minutes gone in the game. Gordon's tally for the season now sits at five for the season, and will look to build on that in these final two games to propel the Cardinals into the MEC tournament. Also on the scoresheet Wednesday in the 2-2 draw was Senior Reilly Nickles, taking his tally to three for the season from midfield. Nickles got his goal right on the 50 minute mark, before Frostburg levelled it up in the 70th.

In the reverse fixture against Point Park earlier in the season, Wheeling came away with nothing after a heartbreaking last minute goal from Point Park to give them a 2-1 lead. That was the ninth meeting between the two teams, with the Cardinals taking home four wins, losing three, and tying one. Point Park currently sit third in the MEC north, six points ahead of the Cardinals who have 10 points. The Cardinals currently have two wins and a tie from four games against Point Park at home, with their last victory against the Pioneers coming on October 20th, 2024. The Cardinals will know they have a great chance to take all three points from Point Park tomorrow, as they are starting to play some of the best soccer they have played all year.

The Cardinals kick off senior night against Point Park University tomorrow afternoon at 5pm.
