The Cardinals Host Point Park For The First Time In Program History

Wheeling, W. Va. - After falling 20-13 against Northwood in a fast-paced, high-scoring game on Thursday, the Wheeling Men's Lacrosse team (3-4, 2-3) will host Point Park for the first time in program history tomorrow, April 1st.

During their game against Northwood, the Cardinals tied their highest scoring game of the season with 13 goals. Wheeling and Northwood were neck and neck for the first three quarters, going into the final quarter tied at 11. Northwood was able to take the lead and keep it the remainder of the game. They scored three times in the first two minutes, with Wheeling only scoring once in the first four minutes. Northwood then scored six more, while Wheeling was only able to score once more in the final minute. The Cardinals fell to the Timberwolves 20-13, currently placing them fifth in the Great-Midwest Athletic Association (G-MAC).
 

Six different Cardinals were able to score on the day; one including Ben Tornatore who was able to get four goals to have a career high in single game goals. Jake Rowe was able to get his third hat trick of the season to bring his goal total on the season to 15. Riley Lincoln, Landon Gallegher, and Owen Worley were all about to pick up five ground balls each to add to the teams total of 32. Dominico Cataldo was the lead faceoff man on the day going 7-18. Landen Martin made 10 saves on 26 shots and picked up four ground balls. 
 

The Matchup
 

Wheeling and Point Park will meet for the first time in program history, with this being Point Park's first ever season.
 

Point Park currently sits eighth in the G-MAC after a loss against Northwood 25-10, on Friday, March 27. Freshman Grant Huber led Point Park's attacking end with three goals and one assist. Freshman Logan Foy led their defensive end with 11 ground balls. Their lead faceoff man was freshman Landon Carlson and he went 8-25. Lastly, freshman Mario Lorenson and freshman Connor Boyle split time in the cage, and had a combined 13 saves on 38 shots. 
 

The Details
 

The Cardinals will host Point Park on Wednesday, April 1st with opening faceoff at 7 PM on Bishop Schmitt Field.
