Wheeling, W. Va. - After a dominating victory against Davis & Elkins, the Wheeling Men's Lacrosse team (7-6, 6-4) head into the Great-Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Tournament play as the No. 5 seed to take on Walsh in the quarterfinal game.
The Cardinals finished their regular season play in Elkins, WV on Tuesday beating the Senators 18-8. Jack Rowe set himself a new career high of single game goals with seven, breaking his old record by two. Logan Parizer got his first collegiate goal, with the help of Andrew Turner, in the final minutes of the game. Ayden Shepard made his collegiate debut on the faceoff for one and won it. Landon Gallagher set himself a new career high, as well, for single game ground balls with six. Lastly, Hajiyianni Marin had a career high of faceoff wins going 8-11.
Wheeling will be appearing in the G-MAC Tournament for the third year in a row. Last season, they took down Davenport, for the second time that season, to advance to the semifinals where they played Seton Hill. Their 2025 season came to a close when they were unable to take down Seton Hill. The Cardinals are set to battle Walsh for the second time in eight days, with the hope of advancing to the semifinals once again.
The Matchup
Men's Lacrosse will be traveling to North Canton, OH for the second time this season to take on Walsh University in the G-MAC quarterfinal game. The last time the Cardinals and Cavaliers met—just eight days ago—Wheeling fell to Walsh 15-6. In their last meeting, the Cardinals only had one day to prepare for the game due to the game getting pushed up a day. This go-around, they have had three days since their last game to rest and reset, and prepare.
The Cardinals and Cavaliers had met one other time in G-MAC Tournament play. They played each other in 2024 in the quarterfinal game, but Wheeling fell to Walsh 11-10 in overtime. The Cardinals kept the lead the entire game until the Cavaliers tied it up at 10 with only four seconds left of the game. Walsh won the faceoff in overtime, and only took two shots before hitting the back of the net to take the win.
