Schedule Change: Wheeling Baseball Announces Location/Date Changes to Concord/Glenville State Weekend

Wheeling, W. Va. - As their final weekend of Mountain East Conference (MEC) South play approaches, the Wheeling University Baseball team (17-6, 6-2) looks to carry their momentum from a weekend sweep to close out March. On Monday, the team announced some date and location changes for their weekend against Concord and Glenville State to wrap up the crossover portion of the schedule. The Cardinals will open the weekend on Saturday, March 28th, when they take on Concord at 1 PM, with the game being played at Franciscan University, and will wrap things up against Glenville on Sunday, March 29th, at EQT Park in Washington, Pennsylvania.

The Cardinals are coming off their first weekend sweep in three seasons this past week when they batted West Virginia Wesleyan and Davis & Elkins. They started the weekend against the Bobcats and batted in game one to a 3-3 score in the top of the seventh. The Cardinal bats would explode for four runs in the top of the seventh, and they went on to win 7-3 to open the weekend. As they moved into game two, the offense continued their momentum, scoring six early runs, and they finished the day with an 8-4 win. The offense's biggest showing would come in the opener against Davis & Elkins, when they put up a season-high 12 runs in a 12-3 win against the Senators. Pitching was the hallmark of the series finale with Davis & Elkins, with the bullpen covering 3.1 innings allowing just one run. It helped the Cardinals secure the 7-2 Cardinal win, completing the sweep of the weekend.

The Wheeling University Baseball team will open the weekend on Saturday, March 28th, when they host Concord at Franciscan University's Vacarro Field with first pitch at 1 PM.
