Wheeling, W. Va. - After winning the Mountain East Conference (MEC) Pitcher of the Year award, Wheeling University Baseball senior Sebastian Khan has been racking up the postseason honors. On Monday, the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) released their annual All-American list, and Khan would earn Third Team All-American honors. He becomes just the second player in program history to take home All-American honors, winning honors for the first time since former Cardinal and Hall of Famer Noah Mull earned the same award back in 2010.
After putting together a breakout season as a starter in 2025, Khan kicked things into high gear with his best season yet in 2026. The senior right hander would finish the year 9-2 in 15 appearances, 14 starts, allowing a 2.67 ERA across 84.1 innings of work while striking out 87 batters and walking 25. Included in his run was four complete game efforts, as he led the MEC in several statistical categories, including wins (9), innings pitched (84.1), opponent batting average (.201), and strikeouts (87). On May 1st, 2026, Khan would be a part of another piece of Cardinal history when he took the mound against West Liberty. He would throw 4.1 innings, while walking one and striking out four, as he combined with two of his other pitchers to throw the first no-hitter in program history.
He would begin the postseason award stretch by taking home First Team All-MEC honors for the first time in his career, while also being named the MEC Pitcher of the Year. It was the first time since the team joined the conference in 2013 that a team's pitcher took home the highest honor, and his awards would continue into the All-Region season. He would receive First Team All-Region honors from both the ABCA and the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (DIICCA). Along with his awards from across the region, Khan also made his mark on Wheeling program history, setting four different records. His nine wins were good for the most in team history, while he also set the program record for innings pitched (84.1) and strikeouts.
With the release of the ABCA All-Americans list, the Wheeling University Athletic Department has now had 11 student-athletes earn All-American honors this season. It is the first such award for the Wheeling Baseball program since the 2010 season, when Noah Mull earned Third Team All-American honors. The last program to be honored was the Wheeling Women's Rugby team, who had five players take home honors back at the end of February.
The Wheeling University Baseball team now heads into the off-season as they look to comeback even stronger during the 2027 season.
