FARMINGTON, PA. - The Wheeling University Cardinals Men's Golf Team improves on day two of the Findlay Invitational hitting five over par and jumping a spot to fourth place. A cardinal golfer did finish all 18 holes with picking up a singular bogey.
In first place for the Cardinals, the golfer who did not get one single bogey is sophomore Elias Ekenes-Fosback, who hit two under par. Ekenes-Fosback hit for par all nine holes of the front nine. He was even more dominant on the back nine, as he hit par on every hole except for holes 14 and 15, where he hit for birdie. An impressive display of skill, and he bounced back in a huge way after hitting six over par in round one. He now sits tied with two other Cardinal teammates for 14th overall.Â
In the second for the Cardinals, after his strong round one, is senior Brandon Lee, who is now tied for 14th and shot two over par again today. The front nine started with two pars, then was followed by a bogey, then a birdie on the next hole. He completed the front nine, picking up one more bogey, then paring the rest. The back nine he was near perfect, as he only hit one bogey on hole 11 and then hit for par the rest of the holes.Â
Junior Zac Collins had himself a better day today as he hit two over and is currently tied for 25th place. He had a stellar front nine, hitting a total of four birdies; he did also hit three bogeys but still finished the front nine one under par. There were some struggles on the back nine as he picked up four bogeys but still came through with one birdie on hole 16 to finish the back nine three over par.Â
Rounding out the top four for today is graduate assistant Sean Dobson, who shot three over par and is now tied for 14th place as well. Dobson started the first seven holes hot as he hit two birdies in that span and hit pars for the rest. He hit a bogey on hole eight, then hit par on hole nine, and finished the front nine one under par. The back nine proved to be challenging, as he recorded two double bogeys and a regular bogey. Dobson did still hit a birdie on hole 16 and completed the back nine four over par.Â
The Cardinals improved one spot today, and they will look forward to improving their score for the final round tomorrow.
