Kent, Oh. - The Wheeling Women's Indoor Track and Field team traveled to Kent State University to compete in the Judd Logan Memorial Invitational. They were able to bring home a first place finish in the 3000 meter run, and a couple podium finishes across other events.
The Cardinals put together a solid performance at Kent State, competing across seven events and earning strong finishes throughout the meet. Madison Conrad led the way with an impressive victory in the women's 3000 meters, crossing the line first with a time of 11:01.75. Conrad also competed in the mile, where she finished ninth overall with a run of 5:24.13, showing her consistency within her events each week.
Jade Trowell had a standout day, where she placed fifth in the women's 800 meters with a time of 2:27.95 and finished ninth in the women's 400 meters running a 1:03.75. Lucinda Banks also represented Wheeling in multiple events, finishing 12th in the 400 meters with a run time of 1:15.15 and placing eighth in the 3000 meters with a time of 12:14.58.
In the field events, Autumn King cleared 1.48 meters in the high jump to place 12th, while Mariah Pelkey finished 14th in the weight throw with a mark of 9.48 meters. The shot put ring had three Cardinal appearances, with Fenne Sienaert leading the pack in 11th place with a throw of 9.36 meters. Amber Yoho followed closely in 12th at 9.13 meters, and Pelkey rounded out the event with a 14th-place finish at 7.93 meters. Overall, the Cardinals showed depth and competitiveness as they continue building momentum this indoor season.
The Cardinals will be headed back up to Youngstown State for the second time this season to compete in the YSU Collegiate Mid Major on Friday, January 30th with events starting at 9 AM.
