Akron, OH. - After the men kicked things off on day one of the Akron Last Chance Invitational, the Wheeling University Women's Track & Field team took their turn on the final day of competition. The Cardinals would send their freshman sprinter to the track, with Jade Trowell kicking off the Last Chance Meet schedule. She would take home a top five finish at the event and hit her PR as she makes the final push for an NCAA DII National Championship spot.
She would take the starting blocks for ninth race of the day, and had a tough field of competition to face. She would face three runners from the University of Pittsburgh, as well as two unattached runners on the docket. The Cardinal freshman was able to hold her own, taking fourth in the field with a time of 1:00.81. She was just five seconds off of the NCAA Provisional mark, and finished just under four seconds shy of the rest of the competition field. It was a season best effort for Trowell, as she set a PR in the event, marking the second straight event that she set a PR in an event. She broke her previous 400 mark by 0.73 seconds, after she set her 800 Meter PR last time out at the 2026 Mountain East Conference (MEC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
The Wheeling University Women's Outdoor Track & Field team does not have any other Last Chance Meets scheduled at this time, as they prepare for the 2026-2027 season.
