Columbus, OH. - On Friday, the Wheeling University Men's Track & Field team began their Last Chance schedule when they headed to the Jesse Owens Classic. The Cardinals were supposed to have one competitor on day one of the event, but storms in the area had other plans. After their second lightning delay of the day, the Men's 1500 Meter run was pushed to Saturday, giving the Cardinals three competitors on the final day of competition.
Wheeling distance runner Shane Levesque was set to compete in that Men's 1500 Meter Dash after a strong performance at the Mountain East Conference (MEC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships that saw him finish 12th in the event. He ran a time of 4:03.34 in the event and is looking to lower that time as he heads into the second day of competition looking to lower that time. Levesque will now be competing in two events on Saturday, joining teammate Magnus Polkner in the 800-Meter as well as running in his 1500 Meter Dash event. The final Cardinal competitor on the day will come on the field as Kabwe Bwalya takes on the Men's Triple Jump as he looks to get closer to the NCAA Provisional Mark in the event.
Day two of the Jesse Owens Classic is set for Saturday, May 3rd, with the first event the Cardinals will be competing in beginning at 11 AM with the Triple Jump. You can follow along with Live Results by clicking HERE.
