Levesque Runs 1500 Meter in Jesse Owens Last Chance Meet

Columbus, OH. – After storms in the area brought day one of the Jesse Owens Classic to a halt, athletes returned to both the track and the field on Saturday. The Wheeling University Men's Track & Field team had distance runner Shane Levesque, who was supposed to be in action Friday, run in the Men's 1500 Meter Run on Saturday. He picked up a top 20 finish, starting Wheeling's series of last chance meets strong as they begin their postseason run.

Levesque was one of 23 athletes competing across four heats in the event. Levesque would compete in the fourth heat and had a strong showing, finishing second in his heat. He would run at time of 4:08.34 in the event, to take 17th overall and bring his strong season to an end. He cracked the 4:10 mark in every event he competed in this season, and looks to continue building on his success as he heads into the off-season and prepares for the upcoming 2025 Cross Country season in the fall.

The Wheeling University Men's Track & Field team continues their Last Chance Meet schedule on Friday, May 9th, when they compete at Baldwin Wallace University.
