Three Cardinals Bounce Back on “Moving Day” of The Battle at Brunswick

Calabash, NC. – After playing the first round of action on a tournament, day two for a golfer is known as "Moving Day" as they look to better themselves in the next round. For the Wheeling University Women's Golf team, it was moving day at The Battle at Brunswick as they took on round two of the event. Three of the four Cardinal folders were able to improve on their round one stats, as the team finished 10th in the field with a two-round score of 849.

The biggest rebound of the day would come from senior Nicole Lincicome, who finished tied for 17th with a two-day score of 179. After shooting a 93 on the first day of competition, Lincicome was able to drop her score by seven strokes to finish tied for the top round of the day by a Cardinal at 86. As she did on day one, Lincicome would get her start on hole one and it was a big front nine for the senior. She started the day with back-to-back pads on holes one and two and on hole four, she would hit a Birdie that got her back to even. She added three more para on the front nine, shooting +4 across the nine holes. As she hit the turn, Lincicome would add two more pads on holes 11 and 16 to round out her day with a +10 on the back nine. In total, Lincicome would jump eight spots in the standings from day one, finishing the event strong.

The other Cardinal to reach the 86 stroke mark on the day was Ella Keffer, who equaled her day one score. Like Lincicome, Keffer would also see success on the front nine, shooting +3 for the lowest single nine score of any Cardinal golfer on the day. She hit par on six of the nine holes and headed into the back nine sitting in the top 10 of the event. On the back nine, Keffer would hit two more pars, and finished +14 to round out her day. It was a consistent showing for the junior, who shot identical 86's on both days of competition. Keffer, who was the Cardinal's top finisher at the 2025 Mountain East Conference (MEC) Women's Golf Championships, took the top spot for the team in their first fall event and looks to continue leading the Cardinals in the spring season.

Rounding out the day for the Cardinals was Brielle Milhoan and Mallory Bozovich, who each dropped their scores from round one. For Milhoan, it was a six-stroke improvement for Milhoan, who went from a 102 on day one to a 96 on day two, as she held her standing at 36th in the field. The final golfer was Mallory Bozovich, who competed in her second round of collegiate golf. She would have the biggest drop of the day, taking 18 strokes off her score. She picked up her first career bogey on hole 16, and she looks to continue to improve as the spring season goes on.

The Wheeling University Women's Golf team returns to action on Saturday, March 22nd, when they take on the MEC Spring Golf Classic.
