Wheeling Baseball Hosts Salem in Non-Conference Weekend Series

first time that the team has made back-to-back MEC Tournament appearances in program history, and they are looking to get back and compete for an MEC Championship once again.

The Matchup

The Cardinals and Tigers will be meeting for the, 18th time in program history when their four-game set starts on Saturday, with Wheeling leading the all-time series at 11-6. The Cardinals have one game up on the Tigers in home games, going 4-3 in seven previous meetings compared to a 7-3 record when they hit the road. The Cardinals have had their share of offensive success in the series, scoring 6.71 runs per game in their previous 18 games.

The last time these two teams met, the Cardinals fell 14-2 at Salem in a single-game matchup. The Cardinals were led by former Cardinal Kobe Hill, who finished 2-2 on the day, picking up the only multi-hit game of the day for the Cardinals. Sammy Kondroik would pick up the lone RBI of the day for the Cardinals, finishing 1-3 while scoring the other run.
