Cardinals sit as the #5 seed in the tournament and are the first #5 seed to compete in GMAC Tournament history. Wheeling is just 2-4 when playing away from Bishop Schmitt Field this season and look to reverse their fortunes with this week's game.
The Matchup
The Cardinals and Cavaliers are meeting for the 12th time in program history and the first time in postseason history when they meet on Saturday. Wheeling has the upper hand in the all-time series, sitting 6-5 all-time, but Walsh has won each of the last five meetings between the two teams, dating back to March 24th, 2018. It has been a high scoring series overall, with the Cardinals averaging over 11 goals per game all time.
In their most recent meeting, it would come down to the wire as Walsh inched out a home victory over Wheeling 9-6. The Cardinals were led by a pair of multi-goal efforts from Mike Andersson and Brenner Chase, who each scored two on the day. Austin Hall would lead the defensive effort, finishing with season-best 16 saves on 25 shots faced in te effort.
