Wheeling, W. Va. – Men's and Women's outdoor track and field were both at the Lee Flames Invitational this pas weekend where they both competed hard even with the elements not being the best and both had a very strong days as they continue the outdoor track season which has been very positive so far.
On the men's side, they had a very strong day starting with
Damian Jackson who took home his second straight gold medal and first place finish which was a great way to start the meet off and the second gold medal of the day went to
Daimar Ivey who is starting off the outdoor season very strong. The track events would start with freshman
Jan Wray who would top the pack running a time of 11.05 to take 19th in the field. Overall it was a very strong day for the men's team with 2 gold medals and a lot of top 30 finishes.
On the women's side the accomplishments didn't stop with thrower
Kamille Graham finishing with a fair of top 5 placements and winning the Women's Discus for the second time this season which was a great way to start off a strong day for the Cardinals. The jumpers were up next to compete and
Tara Perry made her debut which was really successful as she took eighth in the event and sprinting would continue with another top 10 finish as
Ka'niya McGowan would get 10th. Overall, it was a very successful day for each group and a lot of top ten finishes.
Both men's and women's track will be competing in events this weekend starting with the Raleigh Relays which are from March 28th to the 30th at NC State with the event starting at 8 or 8:30 each day. The teams will then travel to West Liberty for the Tim Weaver Track and Field Invitational which will start at 8:30 AM.
